The Device Intelligence & Performance team is accountable for the design, development, deployment, and operations of a device and network analytics solution including a Big Data platform, a rich web frontend, and mobile smartphone-based client software. Hundreds of analysts and engineers use the collected data to optimize Vodafone’s network and business processes based on network performance metrics crowd sourced from tens of millions of devices. The team supports the entire solution lifecycle and is in contact with stakeholders in Vodafone Group and local Vodafone markets and Vodafone partner markets. The team is co-located with the Vodafone Tech Innovation Center Dresden, Vodafone’s new global center for innovation and co-creation with other top tech world-wide companies, universities, and research institutes. As a developer of our data analytics backend, you will make an impact by:
• interacting with users and stakeholders of the NetPerform solution and your team members to interpret business requirements and high level architecture roadmap, and to translate them into design specifications, work packages, and finally implementations
• showing your capacity to learn and implement new technologies in short timeframes
• working with big data backend technologies, such as Cloudera Hadoop including Impala and Kafka, as well as Google’s BigQuery
• contributing to the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet market-specific and global business requirements
• adhering to architectural standards, design principles, data protection and privacy policies, and best practices
• testing the output of the own work and working along with QA team to fix defects
• working closely and collaboratively with the team and other stakeholders on continuously improving the working model for optimising the results in terms of quality, on-time delivery, and working environment
With these skills you will make a perfect match for this role:
• Deep understanding, profound technical background and preferably several years’ experience in software development, ideally for large-scale data processing enterprise applications
• Applicable knowledge and hands-on experience in cloud-based big data technologies, such as Google Cloud Platform (including BigQuery, PubSub) or Hadoop, Cloudera Impala, Kafka
• Programming experience in Java, C#, Kotlin, Python, or similar, as well as standard frameworks such as Spring Boot, ASP.NET Core, and similar
• Profound understanding of technologies and principles of mobile communications networks (including GSM, UMTS, LTE, NR), wireless technologies such as WiFi, or fixed line communications and networking technologies will be beneficial
• Knowledge of web-based and service-based architectures (REST)
• Knowledge of web security standards
• Experience with agile software development, DevOps team setups, continuous integration (JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, Git, Jenkins, etc.), and applying agile practices in enterprise environments as well as familiarity with corresponding tools (JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, Git, GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) is beneficial
